We passionately believe that increasing ocean awareness and education globally is critical for the future health of the ocean and our planet.
That is why, for every item sold in our range, Conscious Swim will donate 1% of sales to Underwater Earth to help them further their global mission to reveal the ocean, contributing to projects that include ocean exploration, education, science and conservation.
Underwater Earth – Revealing The Ocean To The World
The ocean, representing over two-thirds of the world’s surface area, is critical to the planet’s health and wealth. It governs our weather and climate, it is a vital source of protein, and it even provides us with more than half of the oxygen we breathe.
Yet the ocean is out of sight, out of mind, hidden to all but a small percentage of people who get to visit the ocean, and explore below the waves. How can anyone love and care for something they cannot see and understand.
Underwater Earth’s mission is to reveal the ocean to the world using creative storytelling combined with innovative and immersive technology. Creative storytelling that is immersive, engages, educates and delights. Technology that is accessible in the home, in the classroom, and at exhibitions and events. Underwater Earth wants people to appreciate the ocean’s magic, understand its importance and recognise the issues it is facing. They believe only then will people be motivated to protect our ocean.

Revealing the oceans for all to explore
99% of people don’t dive and probably never will. It is a huge issue for ocean conservation. The ocean is another world that most people don’t know or understand. Underwater Earth’s big idea was to take Google Street View underwater. Funded by their founding sponsor XL Catlin they developed a unique underwater camera (SVII) capable of revealing the oceans in Google Street View.
Underwater Earth’s work is the subject of a Netflix Original Documentary
For three years, Emmy-winning filmmaker, Jeff Orlowski, and his team at Exposure Labs followed Underwater Earth’s work recording and revealing the 3rd Global Coral Bleaching Event and the impacts of climate change on the world’s coral reefs.
500 hours of underwater footage later and many, many hours in the editing suite, the result was ‘Chasing Coral’. The documentary premiered at Sundance Film Festival in 2017, winning the best US Documentary Audience Award, and has been winning awards ever since, including more recently an Emmy in 2018 for Outstanding Nature Documentary.
Chasing Coral is now streaming on Netflix.
